uPVC Windows

We have gone with uPVC window and door frames throughout the house rather than aluminium. The reason for this is quite simple.

Aluminium is a great conductor of heat with standard window and door frames having the same temperature on the inside as on the inside. Also the level of condensation caused by the aluminium frame is high. Even with thermally broken aluminium frames you still get condensation.

The Window Association of NZ give a condensation rating for window frames with standard aluminium getting two stars, thermally broken aluminium 3 stars and uPVC getting 5 stars.

Our uPVC frames are coming from Weathertight Windows and Doors in Dunedin and the price is the same as for aluminium. The product is "deceuninck zendow" windows originally designed in Belguim and sourced through the Australian branch of the company.
