DSHH System

The digital self heating system is the heart of the home. The solar system provides the heating for the hot water, the in floor heating of the house and the balance of the solar heat generated is stored in the ground below the floor slab. During the day the solar system when operating heats the hot water first, then the floor slab up to the desired temperture (normally 20 - 22 degrees) and the balance goes into the ground. The ground is isolated from the floor slab and the foundations by a layer of polystyrene. The in ground solar bank which is all of the ground under the house is expected to get to 45 - 60 degrees by the end of summer. It is this bank of heat that is used by the digital system during the night and through out winter to complement the heat generated through the solar system.

There is still significant heat generated in mid winter on a sunny day and certainly sufficient to keep the water and floor slab at temperture.

Watch this site for the weekly readings of solar heat generated and the temperture charts for each of the three elements in the house - the hot water, the floor slab and the storage bank.
This is the layout for the heat core system for the house and is the heat bank for the future hot water and in floor system.
