Polished concrete floors

One of the features of the house is the concrete polished floors in the kitchen, entrance way, laundry and the bathrooms.

The polished concrete is from BM Scott in Levin and uses the Husqvarna HiPERFLOOR system. The HiPERFLOOR system is a genuinely diamond-polished concrete system with no topical sealers. As such the maintenance and re-coating associated with grind and seal systems is virtually eliminated. (As such the sealant removal/landfill and future re-seal (solvents etc) is eliminated.)

With the in floor heating system the concrete will be part of the heat distribution system and hence we decided that there was no need to tile these areas.

This is the effect after the concrete has had the first few cuts.
The concrete colour is 438 from the Brown range of Peter Fell. The mix is standard with the addition of Rangitikei River pebbles which are black.

This is the effect after the polishing has been completed. The floor will now be protected by cardboard while the plastering and painting take place and then will have a final polish.
The one above is the kitchen floor.

This is the ensuite bathroom floor - both bathrooms have the polished concrete as well.

And the small room in the house with its polished floor. Next step will be to cover while plastering and painting happen, skirtings and lights installed and then the white ware goes in.
